Quick checks before you request help

1. Power. Confirm the opener is plugged in and the outlet works. Check the breaker.
2. Wall button and remote. If the wall button works but the remote doesn't, try new remote batteries.
3. Safety sensors. Look for the two small sensors near the floor on each side of the door. Wipe the lenses and make sure they face each other and no cord or object is in the way. A door that closes partway and reverses often has a blocked or misaligned sensor.
4. Manual release. If the door won't open, the release cord may have been pulled. Don't pull it with the door open, because a door with a broken spring can drop.
5. Spring and cables. An opener can't lift a door that has a broken spring. See broken spring repair.
